Except for the schools in Germany, the opening of Pestalozzi schools abroad during Pestalozzi's lifetime has hardly been documented up to now. For a comprehensive evaluation of the reception of Pestalozzi that also considers country-specific differences, individual studies of this kind are indispensable. The contribution in this number provides a summary of the results of Master's thesis work conducted at the Historical Seminar Basel and evaluates the founding of the first Pestalozzi school in France in its historical context.
