[Education as Redemption. Religious Dimensions of Reform Pedagogy]

Modern education got its main impetus from the overcoming of its religious fundaments, in particular the belief in original sin. The numerous educational concepts that consequently could be developed were prematurely viewed in the historiography of education as secular developments, whereby to do so the distinction between religiosity and denominationality had to be left out. In the following contribution, Meike Sophia Baader takes the example of reform pedagogy to show that taking this distinction into consideration reveals religious dimensions of education that for a long time were underestimated or even rejected.
