Aus der (Bildungs-)Geschichte lernen!? Gerhard Kluchert zum 60. Geburtstag [Learning from history (of education)!? Dedicated to Gerhard Kluchert on his 60th birthday]

Historians agree that history is worthwhile; at the same time, they warn of the danger of presentism – that is, the danger that present-day thought patterns and questions be applied to the past and in that way distort it to be adapted to present-day interests. Just how historical research can be motivated differently than by the present-day interests of historical researchers, and what possible learning experiences historical studies offer us in the present day, are core questions in historical research. This is particularly the case also in the field of education, which increasingly seeks to view itself as providing reflections on present and future social problems. The two guest editors of the following discussion dedicate the contributions to history of education researcher Gerhard Kluchert.
